Virus Brontoks

Lately, our computer lab is attacked by Brontoks (or brontox or well known as W32.rontobro). Somehow, our newest database of AVG still cannot detected this virus. We already tried to update it several times and the result is that some computer manages to detect the virus while some others can’t (even when they are using the very same database).
This somehow touches my nerves. My closest friends must’ve known that I’m a very paranoid person regarding the healthiness of my computer. Although I use Ubuntu alot lately, I also use Windows just for casual computing. And I have this weird messages lately from my server that indicates that my computer somehow sent messages with unscannable attachments.
This is the very indications that maybe my computer is infected with that worm. I think I’ll just use this method instead to check wether this computer is clean or not.

you can use symantec update for kill this virus. But if you cannot update your computer, you must formatted your computer. If your regedit cannot open it you must format the computer.

Pengantar Singkat:
Virus ini bertipe worm (dapat menduplikasi diri), dan menyebar melalui attachment email (email virus).
Nama lain virus: brorontok, Rontokbro,..
Virus ini kira2 pertama kali menyebar di bulan September 2005, dibuat oleh
orang Indonesia karena signature email nya berbahasa Indonesia
dan juga saya melihat isi virus dalam binari dan dan menemukan
nama-nama fungsi dalam kode ascii merupakan kata-kata bahasa Indonesia
seperti keluarDOng(), dsb…
Alasan saya menulis artikel ini adalah karena banyaknya teman-teman
saya yang terkena virus ini dan sampai artikel ini dibuat belum ada
Antivirus yang dapat mendeteksi virus ini. (it’s 4 u guys..

Langkah-langkah membersihkan komputer dari virus Barontok:
==========================================================
(Untuk win 95, 98, ME)
- Masuk ke safe mode: Reboot lalu setelahh muncul tampilan bios
tekan Ctrl, pilih Safe mode dan tekan enter
- Lanjut langsung mulai dari langkah 5
(Untuk windows ME dan XP)
Matikan System Restore Windows
Start->Settings->Control panel->System atau
Start->Control PAnel->System
pada System restore tab… pilih opsi “Turn off System Restore”
(Untuk Win 2000, XP Home/Pro, Server 2003)
1. Reboot dan masuk ke safe mode.
** Restart windows, setelah muncul tampilan BIOS tekan F8, akan ad
pilihan: Safe mode, Normal,…. pilih safe mode lalu tekan enter
2. Setelah itu masuk windows dengan login administrator atau user lain yang
mempunyai auth sebagai administrator,
3. Buat User account baru DENGAN account type: Computer Administrator
lalu logoff dan login dengan account yang baru dibuat.

Menghilangkan autostart virus di registry
——————————————
4. Buka regedit: Start menu->Run->Regedit.exe lalu tekan enter
Di panel kiri pilih key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
lalu di panel kanan, hapus key:
Bron-Spizaetus = “……..”
Di panel kiri pilih key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
lalu di panel kanan, hapus key:
Tok-Cirrhatus = “……”
** Catatan:
Jika regedit tidak dapat dibuka (muncul pesan error).. ini merupakan
salah satu akibat virus barontok.
Untuk itu saya telah membuat file untuk mengatasi masalah tsb:
Download file PatchRegKey.inf (600 Bytes) di :
http://students.if.itb.ac.id/~if12031/k … RegKey.inf
atau
http://www.geocities.com/aquata1ne/PatchRegKey.inf
Setelah di download, klik kanan file tsb lalu pilih “Install..”
lalu lanjutkan langkah 4.

Menghilangkan autostart virus di scheduled task

5. Buka Secheduled Task di Control Panel:
Start->Settings->Control Panel->Scheduled Task lalu tekan enter
Hapus task dengan nama “At1″ atau apapun yang berhubungan dengan virus.
Tips: Klik kanan task->properties, lalu lihat isi properties dan jika
ad isi command yang mencurigakan contoh: BArontok.com , dsb.. hapus
task tersebut.

Cari dan Hapus file-file virus di seluruh drive komputer

6. Aktifkan opsi Show hidden Files dan Ekstensi:
Start->Settings->Control panel atau
Start->Control Panel
Klik Folder Options dan pada Tab view aktifkan opsi:
1. Show hidden files&Folders
dan matikan opsi
2. Hide Extensions for known file types
3. Hide Protected Operating System
7. Gunakan Search File Windows:
Start->Search lalu tekan enter
Cari di seluruh drive windows yang ad: C,D, ….
pada input Search for files or folders names masukkan:
*.exe
lalu pada search options pilih opsi Range Size-> At most: 81 Kb
dan pada Advanced Options pilih opsi Search system folders,
search hidden files&folders, search subfolders
pilihan lain biarkan kosong
Lalu klik search now..
Pada hasil pencarian di panel kanan hapus semua file yang:
1. berukuran TEPAT 80 kb DAN
2. file nya berekstensi *.exe / *.pif / *.com / *.bat DAN
3. File nya memiliki icon folder/direktori windows
** perhatian: hapus hanya file yang memenuhi SEMUA kondisi di atas
dan BUKAN yang memenuhi salah satu saja.
(File yang sering ditemukan: Barontok.com, ElnorB.exe ,cari file ini)
* Tips: Sort hasil pencarian berdasarkan size untuk memudahkan
penghapusan
* Catatan: Cara ini merupakan cara heuristic berdasarkan pengalaman
dan eksperimen (e.g: ditemukan bahwa virus tsb berukuran 80 Kb),
dipilih untuk pencarian lebih cepat dibandingkan melihat pattern file
satu2 secara manual :-p
** Sorry, i don’t have time to write the removal program now
(cuz too busy with my f***’ study) maybe next time
7. Ulangi langkah ke-7 atas dengan input search file: *.pif, *.com, *.bat

Try opening http://www.vaksin.com/rontokbro.htm this new virus is slightly more advanced and intelligent. The continuous restarting of PC is not caused by the security loophole exploit, but the virus itself gives command to restart if it founds certain files that could be used to remove it. To eliminate this virus, download latest antivirus program/definition (trialware also works) – run them at safemode. Also check the task scheduler, it gives malicious entry there. Refer to the website I gave at the beginning my message, I think it contains sufficient information to remove this virus.

I killed brontox this morning, try this way: run the computer in safe mode ( press f8 before window starts) then, run the superdat file 4556 first (you can get from :download.mcafee.com) then run the old version of Mcafee (7.0), ( if you need the super dat file, I can send you via my email, be my guess…)OK buddy..try it now.

ada 5 kemungkinan, karena brontoks dikampus gw duluan yg diserang, kemungkinan pembuat yaitu Fisika Teknik, Informatika, Matematika, Fisika atau non ITB.
soalnya yang dalem pemrogramannya dalem jurusan ini soalnya selain pemrograman dijurusan ini belajar artificial inteligence yang lebih dan cellular automata yang baru berkembang oleh wollfram, kita tunggu orang terkaya didunia bukan lagi bill gates..

Hello,brontox right now is not my problem. Because,my system now had been infected by new virus. It slow down my system. Meaning that it just like brontox but came with spyware. Hi there,
Virus has hit my machine and I’ve had to reformat. It has also spread to a friends machine. The virus was NOT however picked up by Bitdefender or Norton (but was cleaned off my flash drive with my new system with updated Norton).
He’s PC is running, but extremely slow, system idle process seems to be running @ high CPU, but this does not reflect in the process list – here it appears to be normal (but is CLEARLY not!).
What do I do? Reformat out of the question. There must be something else im missing, Did the registry mechanic thing, whats next spyware doctor perhaps?

brontok sucks…but its a minor virus to me, im affected before but now no more hehehhee. just install KASPERSKY ANTI VIRUS. but before installing the anti virus pls. format first your computer then install the kaspersky anti-virus.

use other antivirus to detect brontoks.always update antivirus. recomanded avast and mcAfee antivirus. do not used Nortan.if your computer had been infected by brontok-S do not format your computers. it gonna make your computer damage.use dos format to clear all image on your hard disc.make sure your bios is updated.
Gunakan antivirus yg lain untuk mengesan Brontoks. selalu update antivirus itu. avast dan mcafee dapat mengesan brontoks dan keturunan nya.antivirus nortan tidak dapat mengesan brontoks.jika ciomputer anda dijangkiti brontok-s ,di nasihat kan jgn format. ia akn merosakan hardware dan perisian komputer anda. di nasihatkan menggunakan DOS format untuk format hardics anda.jgn lupa update bios anda selepas anda menggunakan DOS format kerana brontok-s suka kacau bios.

confirm brontok s tak boleh buang macam tuh sahaja, kalau komputer belum dijangkiti di kira masih selamat kerana smua antivirus masih boleh detect that virus.. but if ur computer dah dijangkiti tak boleh format macam tuh, kecuali pakai window selain xp ke atas.windows xp ke atas tak boleh buat apa apa sbb its still have image and brontoks ini adalah keturunan queen of worm, kerja virus nih adalah menghilangkan data dan memusnahkan firmware apabila kita format.

Procedure buang brontok ini amat mudah ..termasuk virus2 lain..saya dah test utk 30 case studies brontok utk customer…
cara jgn guna scan inside system…use cd xp utk scan dan remove ibu2/file2 jahat ini..
bartpe or winpe…cari kat google…
buat 2 kali scan ..scan “outside system” guna mcafee scangui plus sophos dos command 2 antivirus ni digabungkan…mesti gabung? then reboot to ori system..akan ade kesan file2 virus or program kita yg kena buang..gunakan autoruns utk buangkan sakibaki tu..lihat je “file not found” dlm tools tu..delete je…masukan good antivirus karspesky 5 /6 ke updatekan..then scan whole system..bagi window 98 or krg power ram nye leh guna avg…insyallah mesti boleh buat..tanpa format laptop/pc anda…ok

pls help i got the nasty brontok virus on my laptop i used norton to scan the virus and i found about 3554 brontok files while i was busy deleting the files my machine switched off can you pls give me advice on how to remove all this irritating files
